This coming Friday, October 11, the Lesbian Friends of Charlotte (LFoC) will host a special “Night of Sapphic Storytelling” to celebrate National Coming Out Day.

The aim of the event is to shine a spotlight on voices in the Queen City’s women-loving-women community. It will feature five prominent storytellers from around Charlotte, as well as live music and spoken word, promising to be a night of inspiration, emotion, and a bit of laughter.

Featured as part of the line-up during the event will be Heidi Samples, the event’s host, as well as a social media content creator and LFoC’s resident admin; Jenny-Jaymes Gunn, a local podcast personality and musician; Bishop Tonyia Rawls, a nationally recognized LGBTQ-faith leader and social justice activist based in Charlotte; Laurel Grauer, the Director of Community Relations and Israel Affairs for the Jewish Federation of Greater Charlotte; LaShawn Nevins, a local advocate for queer representation; Stephanie Leonard, an experienced storyteller, writer, and improvisational comedian with Alphabet Soup and That’s What She Said; Becka Eppley, a cultural creator and storyteller, as well as a co-host on the Permission To Be Podcast; Maggie Lowe, an acclaimed musician from the Charlotte music scene; and Sarah Stephens, a celebrated spoken word artist, also from the Queen City.

The Lesbian Friends of Charlotte is a local social group dedicated to creating safe, enjoyable and welcoming spaces for LGBTQ women in the Charlotte area. Through the regularly recurring events the organization preents, the group’s goal is to create community, connection, and support. Participants can expect an evening filled with connection and celebration through the stories told, reflecting the unique experiences of the area’s LGBTQ women.

Lesbian Friends of Charlotte’s Sapphic Storytelling Event will take place at 7 p.m. on Friday, October 11, at Divine Barrel Brewing at 3701 N Davidson St., Suite #203 in Charlotte.
