CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A special film screening and panel discussion on Friday evening will highlight the experiences of local LGBT youth. The GayCharlotte Film Series will present the film and panel on Friday, 7 p.m., Actor’s Theatre of Charlotte, 650 Stonewall St.
The film, “Were The World Mine,” is an artistic and musical queer spin on William Shakespeare’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream,” recounting the story of a a bullied and demoralized gay student at an all-boys school who uses a magical flower to turn many in his community gay, including a comely rugby player for himself.
After the film, a panel discussion of local LGBT youth will discuss their experiences in schools and in the community.
The event is made possible by a grant from The Charlotte Lesbian & Gay Fund. Admission is free for those under 25 and $6 for those 25 and over.
The GayCharlotte Film Series is now in its fifth year, screening films throughout the year including an annual festival.
