The nation watched yesterday as a domestic terrorist held hostages at the Discovery Channel. Both frightened and anxious, the public kept up with the situation through Twitter and any number of other online and television media.

For staffers at Washington Blade, the LGBT newspaper in the nation’s capital, the situation was especially frightening:

A former Washington Blade employee was among three hostages held at the Discovery Communications building in Silver Spring, Md., on Wednesday, according to multiple sources.

Christopher Wood, a former Blade marketing manager, was freed after police shot and killed the suspect.
