TRANSforming Local News

Earlier this year, the Charlotte Observer produced a five-part story called #TeamPregnantDad. The story highlighted Liam Johns’ experience navigating pregnancy as a Transgender man in Charlotte. It also highlighted the need for deeper conversation, representation and storytelling across the gender spectrum.

So … let’s do it! Join us for an interactive gathering on Aug. 10 as we screen the mini-documentary from #TeamPregnantDad and talk about the future of Charlotte’s local news.

Here are the details:

What: TRANSforming Local News: A Conversation on Reflecting the Gender Spectrum in Charlotte Media
When: Sat., Aug. 10, from 1–3 p.m. (doors open at 12:30 p.m. and refreshments will be served)
Where: Unitarian Universalist Church of Charlotte, 234 N. Sharon Amity Road, Charlotte

RSVP: freepress.net/transformCLT

This event is free and open to the public.

Organizations partnering on this event include The Charlotte Observer, Free Press, Atrium Health, Charlotte Pride, Connie J. Vetter Law, Essentials for Life Ministries, The Freedom Center for Social Justice, PFLAG Charlotte, QNotes, Time Out Youth, and Transcend Charlotte.

The event is finished.
